Rare wetland on the road to recovery

One of the few remaining wetlands of its kind on the Swan coastal plain is on its way to being restored to its original condition as part of a conservation project in the area.

A 19ha bushland remnant in Kenwick, Brixton Street Wetlands has outstanding conservation value, supporting 307 native plant species and containing a diverse array of threatened plant and animal communities.

Kimberley fire management team takes out top prize at 2008 WA Environment Awards

Preventing and reducing the size of wildfires in the Kimberley has seen the Australian Wildlife Conservancy and the Rangelands NRM Coordinating Group win the overall winners award at the 2008 WA Environment Awards.

The group's project - Ecofire: Coordinated fire management in the central and northern Kimberley - was also recognised with the Community Achievement Award.
